During my time at school, I was required to earn 3 credit hours at the school newspaper. During my time at the paper, I wrote for three different sections: news, feature and opinion.
Northern Illinois University Student government leader targeted for removal because of conservative beliefs
This was an article I wrote for The College Fix. To write this, I had to reach out to Kyle Jacobson (the targeted student) as well as several sources who found his posts offensive and wanted to see his views on subjects like supporting the police toned down. You can read the full article here.
Columbia, NYPD silent on investigation into swastika reportedly found on campus two months ago
Another article that I wrote for The College Fix, this article is an update of a previous article that the Fix wrote back in October. When it was reported that a swastika was spray painted on the stairs to the school's library, two months went by without any update. This article was to check in to see what the school and police had discovered since the first article's posting. You can read the full article here.
Student government vows to increase purchases from LGBTQ, racial minority-owned businesses
In this article, I write about how the University of Minnesota is planning to make more purchases to businesses owned by minorities. This decision was made thanks to a bill that was voted on (and passed) by the student government. To report on this, I contacted the sponsor of the bill and he told me the details of how the bill got passed and what went into writing the bill. To read the full article, you can find it here.
