Each semester at Liberty University brings a new series for Campus Community, a Wednesday night church service for students. Campus Pastor David Nasser plans and prepares each series months in advance.
“The title of it is ‘Playlist,’ and we’re going through the Psalms,” freshman Grace Ellis explained. “We’re going in depth on the details of those and how that relates to worship and rest and things like that.”

During Nasser’s opening sermon for Campus Community, he described his heart behind the series. Nasser explained how the five books of the Torah line up with the five books of the Psalms, and they become the “playlist” for our emotions and our life following God’s law.
According to a video posted on Twitter, David used the Psalms to reflect on his highs and lows in life. Similarly, we can use the Psalms as a “playlist” to reflect on our emotions on the highest mountain tops and in the deepest valleys.
In the following weeks, Nasser has taken Psalm 23 and explained each verse in detail and how it should relate to our life.
“One of the things I think that was really powerful that they talked about in the series is rest and taking that time to take a break and relax,” Ellis stated. “I rarely take time to just sit down and not do anything, and I think that’s really important both spiritually and physically, mentally, all of the aspects of life—to just rest from doing work and doing things.”
